Police are searching for a man who stabbed a 21-year-old straphanger aboard a Bronx subway train early Friday morning.
The victim was riding a southbound 2 train around 7:07 a.m. on April 18 when he was approached and stabbed by the suspect, according to the NYPD.
Officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a report of a stabbing at the East 219th St. subway station and found the victim “conscious and alert” with a stab wound to his right forearm. The Williamsbridge station serves the 2 and 5 lines.
Emergency medical services transported the 21-year-old to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
Police sources said the suspect was moving through subway cars shortly before the stabbing occurred.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not released a description of the suspect or disclosed a possible motive.
As of April 13, eight transit-related crimes have been reported in the 47th Precinct, up from six during the same period last year. Meanwhile, a whopping 259 assaults have been recorded so far this year in the precinct, which covers Woodlawn, Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Baychester, Edenwald, Olinville and Fish Bay.
