Gunman kills 28-year-old in the Bronx: NYPD

Police are looking for the gunman who fatally shot a man in the Bronx on Sunday night. 

According to the investigation, the suspect shot 28-year-old Courtney Howell multiple times near Morris Avenue and E. 174th Street in Mount Hope, leaving the bloodied victim lying on the sidewalk. 

Paramedics rushed Howell to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The suspect, meanwhile, fled the scene before police arrived, according to an NYPD spokesperson. 

Cops did not release a suspected motive for the shooting, or details about the suspect. 

No arrests have yet been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. 

Between Jan. 1 and Nov. 12, when the most recent NYPD data is available, cops recorded 1,007 victims of gun violence on the streets of the five boroughs, with 343 coming in the Bronx.
