A man was taken into custody on Staten Island after an argument lead to the death of his roommate on Tuesday morning.
According to police, at 8:18 a.m. on Jan. 18 officers responded to a 911 call regarding an unconscious man inside 493 Jersey Street. Upon their arrival, officers found 37-year-old Justin Gaston in the bathroom with a stab wound to his chest.
Paramedics rushed to the location and declared Gaston dead at the scene.
Gaston’s roommate, 27-year-old Raiquan Becheam, was taken into custody at the scene. A spokesperson for the NYPD stated that prior to the stabbing, Becheam and Gaston had allegedly gotten into an argument about their living situation. Becheam was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing.
