Manhattan detectives continue to search for the shirtless suspect who terrorized a senior couple during a street robbery earlier this month.
The NYPD released video footage on Friday of the perpetrator responsible for the attack that occurred at about 10:35 p.m. on Nov. 9 in front of an apartment building at 437 West 44th St. in Hell’s Kitchen.
Law enforcement sources said the attacker approached the senior couple, a 75-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman, as they walked through the location, and attempted to yank the woman’s purse off her arm.
During the attempted purse snatching, cops said, the crook threw the woman to the ground. He then turned to the man and attempted to forcibly remove his wallet. In doing so, authorities said, the perpetrator punched the male victim multiple times in the face.
Despite the assault, authorities said, the perpetrator was unsuccessful in removing property from the victims. Police reported that he then took off his own shirt and fled the location on foot westbound along 44th Street.
The incident was reported to the Midtown North Precinct. EMS rushed both victims to Mount Sinai West-NYC Hospital for treatment of their injuries; the woman suffered a bloody nose and pain to her elbow and neck, while the man sustained serious eye and face injuries. Both victims were listed in stable condition.
