Detectives in Manhattan are on the hunt for a pair of perps who allegedly robbed three people in subway stations in separate incidents since October — snagging money and property along the way.
According to law enforcement sources, the first incident occurred on Oct. 10 at approximately 5 a.m. inside the Bleecker Street station in Greenwich Village. Two brazen robbers brutally beat a 60-year-old man, who was sitting on a bench, punched and kicked him in the head and face to grab $65 out of his pocket, police said.
As the perps fled the scene on a southbound 6 train, the victim sustained a laceration to his forehead. EMS rushed him to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue for treatment.
About a month later, the robbers struck again on Nov. 7 at around 3 a.m. inside the 42nd Street-Times Square station. In a similar fashion to their previous crime, the robbers snuck up on a 58-year-old man, pushed him to the ground, punched him, and fled the station after grabbing the victim’s cell phone and wallet.
Police said the victim refused medical attention at the scene.
Nearly two hours later that same morning, the perps attacked another man, age 56, inside a moving southbound 2 train that was approaching the Fulton Street station in Lower Manhattan. Sticking to their usual method of mayhem, the robbers punched the victim in the face and took his cellphone and approximately $80, law enforcement sources said, adding that the robbers fled the station on foot.
Meanwhile, the victim suffered pain and swelling; EMS arrived and brought him to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue.
Police on Wednesday released surveillance photos and video of the robbers who remain at large. One of the perps is shown wearing a hat and orange pants. The other is wearing a black hood and black mask. The video shows the suspects jumping a train station turnstile.
None of the victims knew their attackers, police said, and all are in stable condition.
So far, police said no arrests have been made, but the investigation remains ongoing.
