Police are looking for a suspect who stabbed a 14-year-old boy in Lower Manhattan Sunday.
According to cops, the victim was inside Elizabeth Berger Park near Edgar Street and Trinity Place at around 5 p.m. when the suspect approached and began arguing with the teen.
As the dispute quickly escalated, the suspect punched the teenager in the face, before brandishing a knife and plunging it into his chest, police said.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and rushed the bloodied 14-year-old to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.
The suspect, meanwhile, fled westbound on Greenwich Street on a bicycle.
Authorities did not release a motive for the stabbing.
Between Jan. 1 and Aug. 13, the NYPD reported that there were 17,150 felony assaults recorded in the five boroughs, up 5% percent from the same period in 2022. Additionally, there had been 86 in the 1st Precinct, where the teen was stabbed, the same number as a year ago, according to the most recent NYPD data.
