A 10-year-old girl died on Tuesday morning after she was hit by a school bus while crossing the street in Brooklyn.
Police say that at around 6:45 a.m. on Feb. 25, the NYPD responded to a 911 call regarding a pedestrian struck at Crescent Street and Wortman Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers found a 10-year-old girl at the location, unconscious and unresponsive.
A preliminary investigation found that a 61-year-old man was driving a school bus northbound on Crescent Avenue and struck the victim, who was crossing Wortman Avenue, as he turned right onto Wortman Avenue. The driver remained at the scene following the crash.
The victim, whose identity is being withheld at this time, was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made that this time. The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier this morning, a student was struck and killed by a bus while she walked to school in Brooklyn.
She was just ten years old. No family should have to suffer something like this.
