Staten Island detectives are looking for the suspect who stabbed a woman to death at her home on Tuesday evening.
Police said Jennira Roundtree, 43, was fatally attacked in the vicinity of her residence at the West Brighton NYCHA complex, located at 820 Henderson Ave., just after 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 7.
Officers from the 120th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call for a reported assault, found Roundtree with multiple stab wounds to her chest.
EMS rushed her to Richmond University Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.
Henderson’s death was the first reported murder on Staten Island in 2025. Through Jan. 5, the NYPD reported seven homicides in the first five days of the new year.
So far, no arrests have been made in the active and ongoing investigation, police said. As of Wednesday morning, police sources did not have a possible motive for the deadly stabbing or a description of a potential suspect.
Anyone with information regarding the homicide can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). You can also submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X (formerly Twitter) @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
