Johnson to Share Vision for Addressing Food Equity

City Council Speaker Corey Johnson (D-Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen) will be unveiling his new plan for food equity on Thursday.
Johnson will also release a comprehensive City Council report, “Growing Food Equity in NYC.” The report will highlight challenges related to hunger and food waste, and discuss recommendations for ensuring equitable access to healthy food across the City.
The event is slated for Thursday, Aug. 1 at 12:00 p.m. at Cypress Hills Community School in Brooklyn.
Jackson to Host Briefing on Cancer Burden

New York State Senator Robert Jackson (D-Washington Heights, Fort George, Inwood) will be hosting a briefing on the cancer burden in Northern Manhattan tomorrow.
The event, hosted in collaboration with the American Cancer Society, will be followed by a resource fair to help keep the community healthy.
The event is slated for tomorrow, July 31 at 6 p.m. at the Isabella Geriatric Center, 515 Audubon Ave.
Rivera to Hold Tenant Resource Fair

City Council Member Carlina Rivera (D-East Village, Gramercy Park) will be hosting a housing resource fair for her constituents tonight.
The fair, co-sponsored by State Senator Brad Hoylman (D-Chelsea, Midtown) will be hosted in collaboration with the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development. Attendees will get the opportunity to learn about HPD’s housing lotteries and the myriad protections offered to rent-regulated tenants.
The event is slated for tonight from 6:30-8 p.m. at St. John’s University, 101 Astor Pl.
