Espaillat Recognizes National Hispanic Heritage Month
Yesterday, Representative Adriano Espaillat (D-Washington Heights, Sugar Hill) released a statement in support of National Hispanic Heritage Month.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is a 30-day period during which we recognize the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. It begins on Sep. 15 to coincide with the independence dates of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua.
“I am proud to honor the rich history and heritage of the Latino community during National Hispanic Heritage month,” said Espaillat. “From our contributions in the fields of arts and entertainment, medical science and technology, business and education, government and serving in our nation’s Armed Forces, Latinos have a significant role in helping to shape this nation and its future.
“While we have made significant progress in our efforts to achieve the American dream, more importantly than ever, we must vow to continue our fight to combat this current era of hate and the anti-immigrant agenda that is being put forth by the Trump administration.”
