Jets quarterback Zach Wilson underwent successful arthroscopic knee surgery on Tuesday, allowing fans to breathe a sigh of relief after a preseason injury scare.
The news comes after the 2nd-year signal caller suffered a torn meniscus and bone bruise in his right leg during the team’s Aug. 12 matchup against the Eagles, when he fell to the ground with a non-contact injury while trying to extend a quarterback scramble.
No new complications were reported, which is the best-case scenario for Gang Green and puts him back on track to return, according to ESPN.
There is no definitive timeline for Wilson’s return to the field, but experts believe he will be out between 2–4 weeks. The Jets have committed to not rushing their sophomore passer back before he is 100% healthy.

In the meantime, veteran backup Joe Flacco will man the starting duties, and likely be under center for the team’s Week 1 game on Sept. 11 against his former team, the Baltimore Ravens.
Head coach Robert Saleh said he is fully confident in Falcco’s ability to take the reins for however long Wilson remains out.
“We have all the faith in the world in Joe,” the coach said.
