New York City Football Club (NYCFC) is finally getting a new stadium all their own after nearly a decade of sharing the pitch at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
As the New York Times first reported, the 25,000-seat soccer stadium will be at Willets Point in Queens right across the street from Citi Field. It is expected to be completed by 2027 at an estimated cost of $780 million.
amNewYork was able to acquire the first high-resolution renderings from S9 Architecture:
NYCFC will pay the entire cost of the stadium’s construction and the lease on the land will keep the club there for 49 years with the option for an additional 25-year extension.
Surrounding the stadium, a 250-room hotel and 2,500 units of housing will also be erected.
