The New York Giants revamped their offensive line, shook up their backfield, went younger in the wide receiver room, and once again are putting all of their eggs in the Daniel Jones basket.
For that, bookmakers putting together 2024 NFL odds have Big Blue’s over/under win total set just a half-game higher than the number of games they won last year at six.
If progress does come for Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll the belief is that it will be incremental, though a lot of that will be placed on the shoulders of Jones. The problem is that the Giants still have a ton of unknowns around the roster.
The defensive line depth is shallow behind Dexter Lawrence and the secondary could still use some bolstering even after the 53-man roster was set.
By those calculations, the oddsmakers forecast the Giants duking it out for last place in the NFC East with the Washington Commanders.
A bit more success is expected of the new-look Jets, who won seven games last season despite losing Aaron Rodgers four snaps in, lacking playmaking depth on the outside, and a porous offensive line.
General manager Joe Douglas has done everything he can to address that and ensure the offense can keep up with a defense that should be one of the best units in the NFL. The offensive line is improved thanks to acquisitions like Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses. Garrett Wilson now has another legitimate receiver behind him on the depth chart after Mike Williams was brought in.
At 9.5 wins, Gang Green should be in contention for the AFC East crown, but it is still level with the Miami Dolphins (9.5) and behind the Buffalo Bills (10.5).
