There aren’t many leaders across the NFL better than New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley.
In a career full of accolades as one of the top linebackers in the game, Mosley’s latest achievement might be his most important. The five-time Pro-Bowler was the Jets nominee for the 2023 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award – an award presented each year to an NFL player who demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship — including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition.
Mosley was named Captain of the Jets season heading into the 2023 season and is seen as the face of one of the top units across the league.
In 10 games this season, Mosley has recorded 101 tackles, five passes defended, an interception, and a forced fumble. New York’s defense ranks among the best against the pass, total yards given up, and points. Before the season, he was ranked by players as the 46th best in the NFL’s Top 100 list from the previous season.
The Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award was established in 2015, and named after the founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
A panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community will next select eight finalists (four in the AFC and four in the NFC) from the 32 nominees. The eight finalists will be listed on the Pro Bowl ballot under the NFL Sportsmanship Award category when players vote on Dec. 15. The winner will be announced as part of NFL Honors Night.
