4x Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook to visit Jets over weekend – REPORT

The Dalvin Cook sweepstakes might be coming to an end in the best possible way for the New York Jets.

The four-time Pro Bowl running back is scheduled to meet with the team this weekend as the two sides look to close on a deal as confirmed by Craig Carton of FS1 and NFL Network.

Cook has had steady interest from almost every team in the AFC East. However, after negotiations stalled with Miami and New England lurking behind, New York has a chance to not let the former Minnesota Viking leave without a deal.

New York has been gradually allowing their second-year running back Breece Hall to slowly make his way back from the ACL injury he suffered during the 2022-23 season. A potential Hall-Cook duo in the backfield might be too strong an opportunity for the Jets to pass up.

In five seasons with the Vikings Cook has totaled just under 6,000 yards rushing in six seasons. In the last four, he totaled over 1,000 yards and still just has under 1,300 carries in his career: a very manageable number for a player about to turn 28 in August. He was released by the team after refusing to take a pay cut and trade discussions stalled.

New York is only able to discuss a potential deal thanks to the recent negotiations of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The four-time NFL MVP took a $35 million pay cut Wednesday which allows the Jets more flexibility to improve the roster at key positions.

Rodgers and Cook may have played on opposite sides over the last few years, but the running back’s incoming visit to Florham Park might be the opportunity for the Jets to get both of them finally playing together.
