Veteran wide receiver Gabe Davis is meeting with the Giants on Wednesday, per multiple reports.
Signs continue to point toward a reunion between the 26-year-old and the Giants’ brain trust, which includes general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll. The group worked together during the 2020 and 2021 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, during which Davis showed flashes of becoming a productive pass-catcher at the NFL level.
He caught 13 touchdowns and amassed 1,148 yards on 70 catches in those two years, which also featured an NFL-record four touchdown receptions in the 2021 AFC Divisional Round. He then averaged 47 catches for 791 yards and seven scores over the next two seasons in Buffalo, which earned him a three-year, $39 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars last year.
Success didn’t follow him down south, as he caught just 20 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns and ended the season on the injured list with a torn meniscus.
While the Giants have a completely overhauled quarterback room that features Russell Wilson as the starter and Jameis Winston as his backup, their wide-receiver room is mostly unchanged. The team is returning its top four pass-catchers, Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton, and Jalin Hyatt.
A healthy Davis would provide additional depth, and he would enter a system to which he would need little time to get reacclimated.
