A last-minute field goal block helped the New York Giants take down the Seattle Seahawks 29-20 to move to 2-3 on the season.

With the Giants leading 23-20 with just under a minute left in the game, linebacker Isaiah Simmons blocked what would have been a game-tying field goal by Jason Myers, allowing Bryce Ford-Wheaton to scoop and score a 60-yard touchdown that sealed the victory.

The big story for the Giants offense entering the game would be how they would operate
without Malik Nabers and Devin Singletary, who were both missing the game due to injury. And on the opening drive of the game, the Giants had no trouble moving down the field, as they took a sustained 10-minute, 16-play drive 79 yards to the Seahawks’ 1-yard line.

However, on 4th-&-goal, running back Eric Gray fumbled the ball before crossing the goal line, and it was picked up by Seattle’s Rayshawn Jenkins, who took it the length of the field for a Seahawks touchdown, giving them an early 7-0 lead.

The Giants would come back, however, when quarterback Daniel Jones found receiver Wan’Dale Robinson in the end zone early into the second quarter, evening the game at seven apiece.

Without Singletary or Nabers, their roles were filled by Tyrone Tracy and Darius Slayton, who each had stellar games. In his first career start, Tracy shined, rushing for a career-high 129 yards on 18 carries, while Slayton caught eight passes for 122 yards, as well as a 30-yard touchdown reception which made the game 17-10. The Slayton touchdown put the Giants
ahead for good, but Geno Smith and the Seahawks did not quit.

The Giants and Seahawks traded field goals in the third and fourth quarters until the Giants had a 23-13 lead. With just over two minutes remaining in the game, the Seahawks
finally found the end zone for the second time when Smith capped off a 14-play, 95-yard drive with a five-yard pass to receiver Jaxon Smith Njigba.

The Giants next drive lasted only 29 seconds before being forced to punt, giving the Seahawks a chance to tie or win the game.

After Smith opened the drive with a 32-yard scramble, the Seahawks were in prime position to kick the game-tying field goal. However, the kick was blocked by Simmons and returned for a touchdown by Ford-Wheaton, and the Giants were content to kneel on a two-point attempt.

Jones finished the game completing 23 of 34 attempts for 257 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also rushed for 38 yards on 11 attempts. On the other side, Geno Smith went 24 of 40 with 284 yards and a touchdown.

Giants kicker Greg Joseph went 3-for-3 on field goal tries and 2-for-2 on extra point attempts, while Seahawks kicker Jason Myers went 2-for-3 on field goals and 2-for-2 on extra point attempts.

The Giants will look to go back to .500 when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football.
