FLORHAM PARK — The New York Jets may be without their top wide receiver in one of the biggest games of the year in 2023.
Head coach Robert Saleh announced that wide receiver Garrett Wilson will be limited in practice Friday but will be QUESTIONABLE for Sunday’s contest in Buffalo. Wilson suffered an elbow injury and was seen sporting an elbow pad in practice on Thursday. Saleh did mention they were “confident” he would play, but there are still several hurdles he would have to clear to make that happen.
Wilson’s injury status is a major issue for a Jets offense that has struggled to score touchdowns over the last few weeks. New York is currently on an 11-quarter end-zone scoring drought and has not scored a multi-play drive touchdown that started on their side of the field since Week 4.
Despite their offensive struggles, Wilson has managed to have a very strong year. The reigning offensive rookie of the year has tallied 55 catches for 642 yards and two touchdowns. He is currently on pace for a second consecutive 1,000-yard season and over 100 catches despite having no other wide receiver tallying over 300 yards.
All of this is to say that there is a major concern if Wilson cannot go on Sunday. New York’s passing offense is already ranked among the worst in football. Losing their top receiving threat would make things much harder for an offense struggling to run simple plays.
The Jets’ full injury report will be announced later today.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned for further updates.
