New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has often been viewed as one of the worst owners in the NFL, but his own players helped cement that notion.

Johnson received an F on the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) annual report card, which polled 1,695 players around the league to help “share with one another about their current club, to not only help them make important career decisions but also to help raise standards across the league.”

He was the only owner to receive an F grade, ranking him 32nd out of 32 team owners. His unwillingness to invest in team facilities, failure to “contribute to a positive team culture,” and weak commitment to building a competitive team ultimately landed him at the bottom of the list.

His failures were just the tip of the iceberg for a Jets team that woefully disappointed in 2024, ending a season that once held Super Bowl expectations with a measly 5-12 record.

Jets players graded the team’s treatment of families and the dining area with a C-. The locker room was given a D+, while the training room and training staff were graded a C. The weight room and the team’s travel accommodations were given a C+.

It has given Gang Green an overall ranking of 29th out of 32 teams, a significant drop from 21st last year.

“Rather than addressing concerns, players believed that management responded to feedback by making conditions worse,” the report card read. “For example, after receiving low grades for their food program last year, players felt the team cut the food budget and did not retain their long-time dietitian, who was previously their highest-rated staff member. Notably, that former dietitian took a full-time role with the Kansas City Chiefs, contributing to significant improvements in their food program and dietitian grades…

“They also cite perceived top leadership issues, with some describing issues as “top-down problems.” The Jets’ ownership grade dropped from a B- to an F, with Woody Johnson receiving the league’s lowest owner score for contributing to a positive team culture.”
