Lionel Messi is in town for Inter Miami’s match against NYCFC on Saturday at Yankee Stadium. Ticket prices are up as the anticipation for Messi’s first appearance in the Bronx grows.
This March — the last time Inter Miami was in the Big Apple — the Argentian’s side lost 4-0 to the New York Red Bulls, a match where Messi sat out due to injury concerns.
He has recently overcome another set of injury issues as well after picking up a knock with Argentina during Copa America.
Miami coach Gerardo Martino has confirmed that Messi will travel to New York for the match in a press conference, but his level of participation will be determined later.
On Wednesday, he came on with half an hour left to play in a 2-2 draw against Atlanta United on in Inter Miami’s most recent away fixture. This leaves the team sitting top of the Eastern Conference with 63 points after 29 games.
NYCFC sits in sixth place, three points behind the Red Bulls, after suffering a 5-1 loss to the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday evening as well.
Last-minute ticket prices are now out on second-hand sites for Saturday’s match, and amNY found tickets to be cheapest on VividSeats, with tickets in the 400s — the highest level of Yankee Stadium — starting at $86, $123 with fees included.
Tickets in the 100s start at $126, rising to $169 with fees, and to sit right behind the Inter Miami bench will run up to $492 with fees.
The bleachers offer a great value for money opportunity, sitting behind the goal that Miami will attack in the first half. Tickets start at $157 with fees, but offer a good view of the goals when they do come.
