A die-hard fan of NYC teams the Mets, Yankees and Giants, Vincent Jones, 54, counts Darryl Strawberry as his all-time favorite Met. He made a bet two months ago, he said, that the Mets would win the Series.
“I knew they’d make it far,” he said while waiting for the game to start at Roosevelt Sports Bar in Flushing. “With the young players, the pitching and the coach — it’s a whole different attitude.”

Ready for the game to start at McFadden’s in Flushing, 29-year-old refrigerator mechanic Ryan Giangaspro said he’s been waiting 29 years for this win. And he’s OK with bandwagoners.
“I love them. The more bandwagoners we have, that means we’re winning. Look at the Yankees: They’re 85% bandwagoners. … That’s because they win. So I welcome them.”
Channeling Matt Harvey (aka The Dark Knight), Giangaspro’s other favorite players are Noah Syndergaard and Jacob deGrom.

Die-hard Mets fans William Arboleda, 42, Daniel Rosa, 43, and Angel Ramos, 42, hang out with other true fans at McFadden’s in Flushing.
“It takes loyalty to be a Mets fan,” Rosa said while waiting for the game to start. “We’ve gotten a lot of ridicule in the past, so the redemption is sweet.”
