Former New York Mets and Yankees pitcher Octavio Dotel died on Tuesday morning from injuries sustained after the roof of the nightclub he was in collapsed, according to multiple reports. He was 51 years old.

Dominican outlet Diario Libre and Hector Gomez were first on the report.

Dotel was at Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, late Monday night into early Tuesday morning when the disaster happened. He was rescued from the rubble but died while being transported to a local hospital. 

Per the Associated Press, at least 44 people have died, and an additional 160 were injured.

Dotel pitched for 13 teams over a 15-year MLB career, starting with the Mets in 1999. He spent the 2006 season with the Yankees. 

In 758 career appearances, he had a 3.78 ERA with 109 saves. He was a member of the St. Louis Cardinals during their 2011 World Series-winning campaign, making 12 appearances in the postseason, including five in the Fall Classic.
