Joe Schoen’s first signing of the NFL’s legal tampering period on Monday was a cornerback, as multiple reports tabbed former New Orleans Saints defender Paulson Adebo heading to the New York Giants.
The 25-year-old had three interceptions in just seven games last season before breaking his femur. Across his four-year career, the Stanford product and third-round pick in 2021 has 10 interceptions and 43 pass breakups.
At the end of the season, Adebo said that he would be ready for training camp and appears to be on pace to do just that. He shared a video on Thursday going through rigorous workouts and even pulling off a backflip.

Adebo joins a secondary that was not nearly the worst aspect of a nightmarish team. Big Blue’s pass defense ranked eighth in passing yards allowed and ninth in passing touchdowns yielded. However, their five interceptions were second-worst in the league. Only the Cleveland Browns had fewer picks (four).
A promising, younger talent gives New York a key outside option to start opposite Deonte Banks. It also bolsters the team’s top three at the position alongside second-year talent Dru Phillips, who showed plenty of promise defending in the slot last year.
