CityPickle is bringing the popular sport pickleball back to Central Park a month earlier than last year.
On April 4, pickleball enthusiasts can return to Wollman Rink but instead of hitting the ice, they can hit the court. Now in its third year, the season will last through early fall. Over the past two seasons, the pickleball court at Wollman Rink has drawn in 130,000 participants of all ages and backgrounds.
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Wollman Park Partners, especially as the iconic destination celebrates its 75th anniversary,” said Co-Founder of CityPickle Erica Desai. “By transforming the famed ice rink to pickleball courts during the warmer seasons, we can ensure Wollman remains a hub for outdoor activity and recreation year round,” added Co-Founder of CityPickle Mary Cannon.

CityPickle at Wollman Rink aims to make pickleball as accessible as possible. In addition to prioritizing nonprofit programming, CityPickle and Wollman Park Partners are committed to providing six court hours of Community Play a day at $5 per person, which includes a free CityPickle x JOOLA paddle rental.
There is no skill level required to play at CityPickle at Wollman Rink, with the group welcoming all sizes and groups. Courtside cabanas are available to rent, and food and drink will be provided by Great Performances.
Those who reserve a court space can play in different ways, with programming options such as group clinics, private coaching lessons, open play, and leagues to accommodate all schedules and experience levels. CityPickle also offers summer camp options for kids, and is accepting inquiries for celebrating special events, including birthday parties, family gatherings, and corporate team building.

“Pickleball has grown in popularity because it’s a social and accessible sport– values Wollman Park Partners and CityPickle share,” said Bret Pidgeon, General Manager of Wollman Rink. “Wollman Park Partners was founded on the mission of making Wollman Rink an outdoor destination year-round, and we hope everyone will join us in celebrating 75 years as one of the most captivating destinations in New York City.”
Reservations will be available from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., starting one week before opening day, and courts can be reserved for up to eight players starting at $10 per layer during off-peak times and $15 per player during peak hours.
CityPickle at Wollman Rink is created in partnership with Wollman Park Partners. To celebrate Wollman Rink’s 75th anniversary, Wollman Park Partners and CityPickle will collaborate on special events throughout the season.
