The Yankees finally got some good news in what has felt like a never-ending parade of injuries this season.
An MRI confirmed that Jake Bauers, who was hurt on Saturday after going knee-first into the left field wall while making an incredible catch, only had a contusion. Bauers will avoid the injured list and he avoided what could have been a much more serious injury.

“He’s good,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said, according to NJ.com. “Knee is clean, so he’s not going to have to go on the IL. He’s just got that swelling in there. So get that out of there and hopefully get him in the mix.”
The outlet also reported that Bauers was seen limping in the clubhouse with his knee wrapped before Sunday’s ugly loss to the Texas Rangers.
Bauers was appearing in his first game since the Yankees had called him up last week after Aaron Judge was injured. Bauers had been tearing it up in Triple-A and had caught the attention of Yankees brass by the way he had been playing.
In 21 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Bauers batted .319 with a 1.271 OPS and nine home runs.
Franchy Cordero was brought back up on Sunday to join the Yankees taxi squad.
