The struggles for Carlos Rodon continued in the New York Yankees’ 7-7 tie against the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. It was the southpaw’s second spring training start and he allowed three runs on four hits with two walks but fanned four in 2.2 innings of work.

The 32-year-old cruised through the first inning, striking out three of the four batters he faced. In the bottom of the second, Johan Rohas launched a two-run shot to right center to give Philadelphia a 2-0 lead. Rodon’s ERA is up to 10.13 after the outing.

In the top of the third, Anthony Volpe hit his first home run of the spring with a two-run shot to knot up the game at 2-2.

Potential starting third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera homered for the first time this spring, but none of the candidates for the position have taken the opportunity and run with it.

Fernando Cruz hasn’t lived up to the team’s expectations with his nasty splitter, but it’s still February and the season is still a month away. To this point, Cruz has posted an 18.00 ERA, a 2.00 WHIP, and a batting average-against of .400.

It’ll be interesting to see how much longer Yankees’ skipper Aaron Boone continues to trot Jasson Dominguez out to left field. He misjudged another fly ball that knocked in a run.

Left fielder Jared Wegner and first baseman Tyler Hardman gave the team a 7-6 lead in the eighth. Wegner knocked in Rafael Flores from third on a sacrifice fly to cut the Phillies’ lead to 6-4. Hardman blasted a three-run shot to deep right-center field, to give the Yankees a momentary lead.
