The storied rivalry between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox will see a new chapter on Friday, as the two historic franchises will take the field for a delayed Opening Day.
Yankee ace Gerrit Cole will take the mound first for the Bronx Bombers in the afternoon matchup, while pinstripe-wearing hitters will face off against Red Sox righty Nathan Eovaldi.
The first game of the Yankees’ season was originally scheduled to take place on Thursday, but inclimate weather in the Big Apple postponed the opener until Friday at 1:05 P.M. Early birds attending the contest will catch the notorious actor-and-director Billy Crystal throwing out the ceremonial first pitch of the game, according to MLB.com.
The Yankees are currently favored to win the matchup, as the popular online sports betting website DraftKings lists the Bronx Bombers as -165 to win outright (meaning bettors would win ¢60 for every $1 wagered). The over/under on the number of runs scored currently sees the Yanks as 1.5-run favorites.
