FeedingNYC gives back to families living in shelters during the holidays

In the spirit of giving, What Is New York? went to help FeedingNYC give back to over 9,000 New York City families so they could have a Thanksgiving dinner.

Over 600 volunteers turned up to FeedingNYC’s volunteer packing event on Nov. 21 in Manhattan. After packing up turkeys with all of the traditional Thanksgiving sides, the food was distributed across the city’s shelter system.

“We wanna make sure every sheltered family gets to have a Thanksgiving dinner together, and we’re achieving that now,” says FeedingNYC founder Rob LoCascio.

The giving doesn’t stop after Thanksgiving. Over the past 23 years, FeedingNYC has fed over 100,000 families, and the organization accepts donations all year long. To donate to FeedingNYC, you can visit feedingnyc.org/donate.
