New York City is a known hub for public transportation, with the MTA’s subway system transporting millions of passengers every day. The New York Transit Museum documents the famous railway’s history, from the old-school cars to the ads in the yesteryears.
For the past 23 years, the New York Transit Museum has run the Holiday Nostalgia Train, giving New Yorkers a chance to commute like it’s the 1930s. The train runs from 2nd Avenue on the uptown F line up to 145th Street, and then runs from 145th Street on the downtown D line.
Watch as The Transit Guy Hayden Clarkin (@thetransitguy) explores everything that makes the New York Transit Museum tick with the director of the museum, Concetta Bencivega.
There is still one more chance to ride the Holiday Nostalgia Train, this weekend on Dec. 30. For more information about the New York Transit Museum, visit nytransitmuseum.org.
